Minimalist
art.
“Minimalism is an extreme form of
abstract art developed in the USA in the 1960s and typified by artworks
composed of simple geometric shapes based on the square and the rectangle” –
Tate website.
I
find the clean lines and geometry within minimalist art attractive and can see
elements of this movement in my own work. This movement largely uses very
subtle colours within work, favouring white and shades of grey. Although I find
elements of this movement exciting, I do not enjoy its artwork as much as I do
that of abstract expressionism. Because the works are very liberal and exact I
find no space for my own thoughts on what they work could be.
